The Manager for Work Health Safety leads WHS and Injury Management services, ensuring safety, compliance, and strategic alignment at SALHN.
The WHS Manager is responsible for leading the Work, Health, and Safety (WHS) and Injury Management (WHSIM) services for the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN). Reporting to the Chief Workforce Officer, the role involves managing a team providing consultancy, advisory, and operational WHS and rehabilitation services. The manager ensures systems for identifying and controlling hazards, preventing injuries, and managing workers' compensation claims. Additionally, the role includes promoting WHS initiatives, developing SALHN plans, and aligning with SA Health’s strategic goals, including compliance with accreditation standards and performance targets in the public sector’s safety and wellbeing strategy.

Duties for the role will include :
Providing strong leadership and direction to the WHSIM team, effectively allocating resources to ensure the successful delivery of WHS prevention, compliance, and rehabilitation programs at both site and local levels.Fostering a positive safety culture within the workforce by developing impactful, risk-conscious media campaigns that emphasize the importance of maintaining a safe work environment.Cultivating strong relationships with Executive and Senior Management to effectively deliver targeted WHS&IM objectives that meet stakeholder needs and drive safety and injury management outcomes across the diverse service areas of SALHN.Collaborating with key workforce personnel to address complex issues affecting the health, safety, and welfare of employees, volunteers, students, contractors, and others, while ensuring the effective rehabilitation of work-injured employees.About you :
To be successful in this role, you will need :
Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills, fostering productive working relationships with peers, staff, and stakeholders.Proven experience in successfully leading and managing staff and substantial resources, optimizing both individual and team performance to achieve organizational goals.Experience in effectively liaising, negotiating, and influencing executives, while delivering high-level, timely responses and providing sound technical advice.Proven ability to work with minimal supervision, developing and coordinating program activities to effectively achieve established objectives.Please see the attached Role Description for additional information.
