This position is approximately 80% REMOTE.


Who we are and what we do:

The Department of Health (TDH) serves the public health needs for the people of Tennessee, including primary and preventative care through rural county health departments and our external partners, health licensure and regulation for all healthcare professionals, emergency preparedness, and research and prevention of communicable diseases. The Office of Compliance and Ethics for TDH performs internal audits, grant monitoring, internal affairs investigations, and processes complaints and investigations related to privacy and civil rights issues.

How you make a difference in this role:

Compliance and Ethics is seeking an experienced auditor and investigator that will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer, to perform special project high profile audits, reviews and investigations, while partnering with existing teams in the areas of internal audit, internal affairs, privacy, and civil rights. This is an opportunity for an experienced, self-directed individual to operate within a positive team environment, while also enjoying a significant amount of independence. This position is approximately 80% REMOTE. Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing Audits, Investigations, Reviews, and Special Projects.
  • Preparing executive level reports and supporting documentation.
  • Some travel (Approximately 25% or less).
  • Working with different teams, in various disciplines.
  • Interviewing clients, subjects of interest, complainants, and respondents.
  • Researching internal and external stakeholders to determine processes, key players, organizational structure, etc.
  • Regular reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four Year (Bachelors) Degree, focused in Accounting, Audit, Compliance, Business, Human Resources, Law or Law Enforcement.
  • Five Years or more in relevant areas of work.
  • The ability to meet new people, travel to new places, examine business operations and workplace cultural dynamics.
  • Expert Level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional certification, such as CFE, CPA, CIA, or similar credentials.
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office products, Adobe, and associated business software., (Experience with electronic audit software such as Diligence is a plus.).

Required Experience:

  • Five Years or more of experience in audits, investigations, information analysis, interviews, operational review and related disciplines.
  • Background with working independently, scheduling meetings with clients and various internal and external stakeholders, the ability to work with experienced, professional teams, keeping a regular schedule.
