Your Mission:
As an AmeriCorps Member, you'll play a pivotal role in transforming mental health education at the University of Miami. With a diverse community of 19,000 students and 18,000 faculty/staff, you'll help deliver impactful training programs and outreach initiatives that address the increasing mental health needs of college students.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver Mental Health First Aid and QPR trainings across UM campuses.
- Participate in specialized mental health instructor training (Dates & Location TBD).
- Collaborate with the UM Counseling Center to enhance existing outreach programs, including awareness day events and programming on suicide prevention, self-care, anxiety, and depression.
- Design and implement creative mental health initiatives tailored to the student body’s needs.
- Recruit, engage, and train faculty, staff, and students in mental health education programs.
- Promote programs through press releases, social media, and community events.
- Monitor and evaluate participant progress and program success.
- Build partnerships with local mental health agencies to strengthen community resources.
- Assist with grant writing and other efforts to support ongoing mental health initiatives.
- Participate in AmeriCorps national service projects and Health360 regional events.
What We’re Looking For:
- Personal or professional experience with mental health advocacy.
- Strong teaching and facilitation skills, particularly with adult learners.
- Enthusiasm for reducing mental health stigma and fostering supportive environments.
- Experience working with diverse groups and creating engaging learning experiences.
- Familiarity with local mental health resources and a commitment to community impact.
- Bachelor's degree preferred
