Position Overview : We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Infection Preventionist / Staff Development Coordinator to oversee the Infection Control and Prevention program in our facility. This individual will serve as a consultant to staff on infection diseases, reporting and investigating incidents, and creating educational services to ensure the highest standards of care. The role also involves utilizing data analytics to enhance quality performance, administering TB tests, monitoring PCC orders, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Infection Preventionist / Staff Development Coordinator will be an essential member of the team, working to ensure safe admissions, monitoring isolation / quarantine procedures, completing infection control audits, and ensuring proper patient care through daily rounds.
Key Responsibilities :
Infection Control & Prevention :
Oversee the Infection Control and Prevention program for the facility.
Act as a consultant for staff on infection diseases, investigation, and reporting.
Develop and implement educational programs for staff on infection prevention and control practices.
Ensure proper documentation for local, state, and federal protocols related to infection control.
Perform infection control audits and ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols.
Data Analytics & Quality Performance :
Utilize data analytics to track infection trends and improve quality performance within the facility.
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of infection control practices and recommend improvements as needed.
Staff Development & Training :
Develop and coordinate educational services for staff to ensure they are trained in infection prevention and other related topics.
Ensure all staff receive proper training on infection control policies, TB testing, and isolation / quarantine procedures.
Collaboration & Communication :
Collaborate with other departments, including the Admissions team, to ensure safe admissions and monitoring of isolation / quarantine protocols.
Effectively communicate with all departments regarding infection control policies and any updates or changes.
Immunization Monitoring :
Monitor and track immunizations for both patients and employees through the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR).
Patient Care & Safety :
Complete rounds to ensure proper patient care, adherence to infection control practices, and compliance with relevant laws.
Review and update care plans as necessary in collaboration with other clinical staff.
Regulatory Compliance :
Ensure adherence to all infection control regulations and guidelines, including those set by local, state, and federal authorities.
Qualifications :
Infection Control Certification
Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure in Michigan
Current CPR certification
Minimum of two years of professional experience in a nursing home or healthcare facility setting
Strong leadership and communication skills
Knowledge of infection control standards and regulations
Strong time management and organizational skills
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with data analysis and management systems
Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding skilled nursing facilities at the local, state, and federal levels
