Job Title: Cardiac Catheterization Radiology Tech
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiac Catheterization Radiology Tech to join our team. In this role, you will operate advanced radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs (x-rays) of the body, focusing on cardiovascular and peripheral vascular procedures. You will work alongside Cardiologists, Radiologists, and Surgeons, providing critical support during catheterization procedures and ensuring patient care in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The patient population includes young to middle-aged adults, as well as geriatric patients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Personnel Supervision: Take responsibility for personnel on the assigned unit, including Registered Nurses (RNs) and Radiology Technicians, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to protocols.
- Diagnostic Procedures: Perform diagnostic cardiovascular and peripheral vascular interventional procedures with competence, following guidelines set by the ARRT, Ohio Department of Health, and other relevant authorities.
- Circulator & Scrub Tech Duties: Perform circulator duties, and act as a scrub tech/assistant while maintaining aseptic technique and ensuring a sterile field during procedures.
- Radiographic & Fluoroscopic Techniques: Utilize radiographic and fluoroscopic techniques to demonstrate catheter location and position, documenting findings while assisting the physician with catheter and guidewire manipulation as needed.
- Patient Care: Show compassion, respect, and caring while working with patients, explaining procedures and possible complications to obtain informed consent prior to each procedure.
- Equipment & Procedure Knowledge: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of procedures, equipment, and vascular-related organ anatomy. Ensure optimal patient care by using initiative and ingenuity to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Monitoring & Crisis Management: Monitor patient vital signs including blood pressure, ECG, and pulse oximetry during procedures. Remain calm and effective during crisis and emergency situations.
- Collaboration & Support: Assist Registered Nurses with admissions, discharges, and acquiring pertinent patient data to maintain high standards of care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree (A.A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Certifications: Must be ARRT registered, or ARRT registry-eligible. Must be licensed by the State of Ohio Department of Health.
- Specialized Registration: Must be Cardiac Interventional and/or Vascular Interventional Registered, or willing to work towards achieving this certification.
- Continuing Education: Commitment to maintaining current ARRT and Ohio Department of Health licenses through continuing education credits.
- Certifications: Must be BCLS and ACLS certified.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology Lab is preferred but not required.
