What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant / Scribe position at Healthcare Hiring Firm?
We are a leading Pulmonary and Sleep Specialist practice providing comprehensive care, including primary and urgent care services, across two locations in North Carolina. We are looking for Medical Assistants / Scribes to support our providers in delivering efficient and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of both direct and indirect patient care duties under the direction and supervision of our Providers.
- Verify the patient history, chief complaint, current medications, medical history, allergies, surgical history, family history, social history and other preventative medicine reviews and records information in the patient electronic health record (EHR).
- Measure and record vital signs and record them in the EHR.
- Triage incoming phone calls and/or patients in the office.
- Explain treatment procedures and prepare both the patient and exam room for examination.
- Handing instruments or equipment as directed.
- Assist Physician with any/all procedures as requested.
- Complete electronic medical records to include medical services rendered, test results and supplies used.
- Provide patient education as directed by the Provider.
- Assist front office team whenever needed by performing additional clerical duties including: Patient check-in/out, referrals, prescription medication management, inbound/outbound telephone calls etc.
- Ensure proper documentation for billing and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Requirements:
- Biology graduates highly preferred or candidates with a strong medical background.
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or Scribe is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical documentation.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
