What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic position at Healthcare Linen Services Group?
PURPOSE: To maintain all production equipment, building and surrounding area.
JOB SUMMARY: Start up/shut down plant machinery each day. Perform safe operation of the boiler and all boiler room equipment. Perform water and boiler tests. Respond to maintenance calls in timely manner.Inspect, diagnose, repair, and test machinery. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, and gears on machinery. Clear machine jams. Wax machine blades. Clear lint from the machines. Check machines for air, water, and oil leaks. Change Chemical drums and AC filters. Monitor PH system. Log parts used for reordering. Customize equipment for laundry processes to improve efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and malfunctions. Maintain and repair trucks, as needed. Work with vendors to repair or install new equipment.Work with safety department to identify safety hazards and find resolutions. Perform lockout/tagout and other safety procedures. Maintain chemical room.

Utilize CMMS system to log all work and perform preventative maintenance
Have a general knowledge of electrical systems
Have a good understanding of computer-based programming (PLC)
Be able to work individually or assist other team members in troubleshooting and repairs
Must be able to operate scissors lift, boom lift, and forklift safely
Follow all company safety rules
Be able to work well with a diverse workforce
Be able to follow directions given by their team lead and/or supervisor
Follow all company policies and procedures
Possess and maintain a positive attitude
Keep work area and the company premises safe, clean and organized
Be able to work past the schedule as production issues may arise, or work additional shifts as needed (weekends, evenings, emergency call-ins)
Perform any other duties as supervisor/manager sees fit
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in all areas of maintenance as needed, including janitorial
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Be able to stand on feet up to 12 hours a day
Minimum of 3 years’ experience with production maintenance
Sufficient manual dexterity to work on equipment
Must be able to lift and move up to 50lb
Must be able to consistently meet physical requirements such as bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling
