What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Staff Development (RN or LVN) position at Healthcare Nursing Center?
Required Qualifications
- Minimum requirements include the following:
- A nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/RN program.
- Two years of experience as an LPN/RN.
- Eligible to participate in federally funded health care programs.
- Must also meet state requirements for relevant licensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional license.
- Extensive knowledge of current standards of practice and the rules, regulations, and laws related to the long-term care industry. Ability to teach this knowledge to others
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Staff Development assumes responsibility for orientation, in-service education and training for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA's) to meet state regulatory agencies requirements
Recognizes educational needs of the SNF and CNA staff and facilitates accordingly
Our ideal candidate has firm knowledge of the DSD role and is ready to expand their career in creating, implementing and managing a CNA training program within the facility, in conjuction with area schools and/or as a part of our organization.
Qualifications
DSD certificate preferred, or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
Must have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse in the state of California
Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within the orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care
Acquires basic Infection Prevention practice knowledge
Previous clinical teaching experience of at least one (1) year
Knowledge of state and federal regulations as to C.N.A. training, orientation, and in-service
