Infection Preventionist / Staff Development - Full-time, salaried position with schedule flexibility
Hartford Area Skilled Nursing Facility looking for an experienced and motivated Infection Preventionist / Staff Development Nurse to join our team.

The role of the Director of Staff Development and ICN is critical to our success. A successful candidate will have the ability to engage and inspire our employees to excel in providing safe and effective quality care. Candidate must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut with related infection control experience as well as talent for education, who also enjoys surveillance, tracking and problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Conduct general orientation and mandatory in-service programs
- Help assess facility educational needs and provide necessary continuing education
- Perform competency skills to assess safety training in the workplace
- Evaluate and monitor transition from orientation
- Assist in creating optimal employee relations necessary to motivate, recruit and retain staff
- Provide oversight of infection control and prevention program to identify and prevent the spread of infections for residents and staff
- Review, update and direct the implementation of infection control & prevention policies and procedures
- Oversee the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, the Employee Health Program and Universal Influenza Program
- Ensure compliance to new hire screening, documentation and immunization reporting per state and federal regulatory requirements
- Perform rounds to identify potential hazards, monitor infection control practices, identify educational needs and evaluate compliance with standard and transmission-based precautions
- Track, analyze and present surveillance trends and develop action plans
- Maintain records and reporting as required by state and federal regulations
