GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Responsible for the overall care of residents at Healthcare Nursing Center
Provide leadership and guidance for other professional and ancillary staff. Is responsible to assure the optimal level quality of care is provided to the residents.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS : Must be a Registered Professional Nurse with current New
York State registration and have should have previous geriatric and / or supervisory experience in NYS. Must be CPR certified.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Work by prearranged assignment, but must be able to accept changes and adapt to added assignments as the need arises.
Assume responsibilities for and direct activities relating to health and nursing care of all residents at Healthcare Nursing Center.
Make rounds frequently to check all residents; check with residents mentioned in report to evaluate their condition, and participate in direct services whenever the need arises.
Accurate reporting and documentation of resident status and care needs information.
Evaluate and recommend improvements needed to give quality care to residents.
Assist resident's attending physician during visits / rounds.
Report to physicians residents' condition changes, etc., as indicated.
Record telephone orders on physician order sheets and that nothing / follow through occurs by Charge Nurse.
See that medications are administered and recorded according to the Pharmaceutical Policies and Procedures and that narcotics are accurately accounted for.
Assist with noting physician's orders and sees that they are carried out. Perform such treatments or procedures as required in the nursing policies and procedures manual.
Will schedule and obtain laboratory specimens as ordered by the physician or Medical Director.
Will assist with follow-through or may initiate precautionary measures in case of suspected infection in cooperation with the Infection Control Nurse.
Assign personnel and make staff adjustments according to needed coverage to meet resident needs.
Acquire replacement staff when an employee calls in; assist with scheduling as needed.
See that personnel are oriented to duties assigned to them and evaluate job performance of staff under their supervision.
Request supplies as needed.
Maintain an open line of communication with the Director of Nursing, Medical Director, Nurse Managers, other departments and consulting agencies of residents' status and needs and staff and unit needs. Responsible for notifying residents' primary contact if residents' status changes.
Assist with updating care plans as indicated. Institute disciplinary measures as indicated to nursing staff with Director of Nursing's knowledge.
Perform any other pertinent duties as assigned by my supervisor.
I understand that emergency conditions may require me to temporarily work shifts other than the one for which I have applied and been ass i gned, and agree to such scheduling change or overtime when necessary to ensure proper operations of Healthcare Nursing Center as directed by my supervisor.
