Full service regional clinical laboratory in Van Nuys, Ca. seeking an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit beginning as an individual contributor and then building a team as the Company grows.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resources function. This role involves managing payroll, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, compliance, and HR technology initiatives. The HR Director will also lead the culture revamp, ensuring that the organization fosters a positive work environment and complies with all relevant employment laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Leadership & Strategy:
● Provide strategic HR leadership in alignment with company goals and values.
● Assist in the culture revamp, working closely with the executive team to foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture.
● Lead the implementation and rollout of ADP, ensuring seamless integration and adoption across the organization.
Payroll, Benefits & Compliance:
● Manage payroll & PTO & Sick Days.
● Oversee the administration of 401(k) plans and health insurance benefits.
● Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation, ensuring that the company is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
● Review, update, and communicate personnel policies and procedures annually to ensure compliance and address any gaps or areas for improvement.
Employee Relations & Development:
● Serve as the primary liaison for current and prospective employees.
● Handle employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and exit interviews, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
● Foster a positive organizational culture and support employee relations issues.
● Conduct and manage performance evaluations and feedback sessions.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
● Oversee the entire recruitment process, from job postings and interviews to onboarding new employees, ensuring a smooth and efficient hiring process.
● Work directly with department managers to assist in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters, including recruitment and staff development.
● Coordinate or conduct exit interviews to determine reasons for separations and implement improvements based on feedback.
HR Technology & Systems:
● Bring HR solutions through technology, enhancing HR processes and improving overall efficiency.
● Develop and maintain a human resource system that meets the organization’s personnel information needs and ensures accurate record-keeping and reporting.
● Supervise the HR department staff, including performance management, hiring, and staff development.
Consultation & Legal Compliance:
● Consult with legal counsel as appropriate or as directed by upper management on personnel matters to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
● Participate in committees and special projects, seeking additional responsibilities to support the organization's goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or director-level role.
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment
- Experience with HR technology systems, including ADP.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus
