The ideal candidate will have the following requirements for the Remote Referral Specialist role:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of healthcare experience working with referrals or authorizations
- 1 years of healthcare call center experience
- Experience communicating with hospitals, medical groups, and providers
- Understanding of medical terminology- familiar with Medicare, Medi-cal, etc.
Assignment details for the Remote Referral Specialist
- Weekend shift required - Mon-Fri 8-5pm during training. AFTER 5 weeks of training, their schedule will change and they will be working weekends and their 2 days off will be during the week. Must be extremely flexible to work the schedule they are assigned!
- Weekdays: Earliest shift starts at 6am Latest shift ends at 8:30pm Weekends: Earliest shift starts at 6am Latest shift ends at 5:30pm
- Long term temp, strong possibility to convert but not guaranteed - 12 month assignment
Day to Day Details for Remote Referral Specialist:
- Will start the day off by pulling the CDS census report for their own individual and assigned RN cases for the day (inpatient census)
- Responsible for calling hospitals for member admission/discharge status - will email the RN and pass on status received from hospital, as well as data entry of that status into their system
- Will follow set criteria to determine if a case needs to be routed to an RN or followed by the UMC. Will make decision on approving cases, moving them to pending review, or cancelling/denying them.
