What we’re looking for:
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and driven strategic leader with a proven ability to deliver results in the healthcare interoperability domain. They should excel in fostering collaboration across teams, be outcome-oriented, and possess a strong technical and domain background in healthcare interoperability. The candidate will take ownership of delivering high-quality interoperability products while shaping the overall strategy and business roadmap. They will oversee all aspects of software engineering for the interoperability team, from initial conception through development, release, and long-term maintenance. Additionally, they will establish policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and innovative software solutions that align with business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients to understand and collaborate on their challenges, needs, and complex workflows related to making data available to various stakeholders in the patient journey.
  • Determine optimal ways to implement key solutions that balance level of effort, market trends, partner system architecture, and business needs.
  • Coordinate and collaborate across internal teams and partners to drive holistic solutions (services, support) with a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Build, grow, and lead a high-performing team of integration engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Participate in strategy development for healthcare interoperability – both within the Data Platforms group and company-wide.
  • Support development teams in creating solutions for market problems; collaborate with marketing and sales teams in launch programs and sales support.
  • Drive product vision, develop and execute both short-term and long-term roadmaps, and be accountable for delivery milestones and outcomes.
  • Immerse yourself in the company’s Agile software development processes and champion continuous improvement practices.
  • Identify, establish, and nurture relationships with healthcare data and software providers to enhance interoperability capabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with product engineering to ensure alignment between technical capabilities and strategic goals.
  • Define and refine the product roadmap, breaking it down into actionable epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize and manage backlogs by making informed trade-off decisions, balancing user satisfaction, time to market, and business objectives.
  • Proactively identify and manage dependencies, addressing risks, and ensuring seamless execution across the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous development, and rapid iteration to keep the product competitive and aligned with market needs.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, DevOps, Quality Assurance (QA), and customer support teams to ensure the delivery of optimal software development and operations.
  • Mentor and inspire software engineers and team members to pursue excellence and exceed performance expectations.
  • Partner with principals, architects, and cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to application architecture design standards and sound engineering practices.

Qualifications:
  • Significant product/engineering experience, including 10 years of leading successful interoperability products through multiple releases, with demonstrated success in defining and launching excellent products.
  • Expertise in developing product roadmaps and plans that align with business goals and drive impactful outcomes.
  • Proven ability to work with partners and clients to deliver joint solutions under tight timeframes, with a strong focus on delivery and execution.
  • Solid understanding of data systems architecture, information flow, and a passion for leveraging tools to enhance and expand business opportunities.
  • Exceptional team management and leadership abilities, including a talent for unblocking challenges and developing both senior and junior team members.
  • Demonstrated domain expertise in healthcare interoperability and interoperability frameworks, including a deep understanding of HL7, FHIR, EDI, USCDI, TEFCA, and Carequality.
  • Hands-on experience with healthcare applications and integration engines such as Rhapsody, Mirth, Iris/Ensemble, etc.
  • Familiarity with major EHR systems, processes, and data flows, including Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth.
  • Experience as a product owner in a healthcare interoperability setting (ambulatory surgery center experience is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodology with a track record of successfully managing projects and delivering results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a willingness to roll up one’s sleeves and tackle challenges head-on.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, people management, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • This role is ideal for a results-oriented leader who thrives on achieving tangible outcomes and is motivated to drive innovation and excellence in healthcare interoperability.
