POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director of Clinical, Ancillary, and PACS Applications is responsible for strategic oversight, implementation, optimization, and management of clinical and ancillary healthcare applications, including Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Reporting to the Vice President of Applications, this leader plays a critical role in developing, deploying, and supporting HSA's Electronic Health Records (EHR) system across its network of hospitals.
This position requires a visionary leader with a passion for driving operational excellence, optimizing system utilization, and enhancing service delivery. As a key member of the senior IT leadership team, the Executive Director will shape the future of HSA's clinical applications, ensuring seamless integration, enhanced patient care, and efficient organizational workflows. This role will also establish departmental objectives, define application standards, and evaluate new vendors and resources for continuous improvement.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the implementation, management, and optimization of Electronic Health Records (EHR), PACS, Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and other ancillary applications
- Ensure optimal performance of medical imaging systems, supporting radiology, cardiology, and other diagnostic departments
- Establish best practices for interoperability, security, and data exchange across clinical applications
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other regulatory standards to protect patient data integrity and security
- Collaborate with IT teams, clinical departments, and external vendors to streamline system functionality and user experience
- Utilize analytics and reporting tools to monitor system efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and drive evidence-based decision-making
- Provide strategic leadership, direction, and mentorship to teams managing clinical and ancillary applications
- Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and resource planning to enhance application performance and scalability
- Support change management initiatives, ensuring smooth system adoption and staff training
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (Preferred)
- 10 years of experience in clinical applications management, PACS administration, or healthcare IT leadership
- 4 years of supervisor experience (Preferred)
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
- Expertise in PACS, RIS, EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech)
- Proven track record of strategic leadership and team management
- Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience in budget planning, contract negotiations, and vendor management for clinical applications
