Infection Prevention Coordinator 4

Salary or Pay Range : $ 8,925.00- $ 18,675.00 Monthly

The Infection Prevention Coordinator (Infection Prevention Coordinator 4) for the Patient Care Services Infection Prevention Department has the primary responsibility to provide expertise in Infection Prevention & Control and Hospital Epidemiology for patients and staff in all areas of the Medical Center, Hospital Service Departments (HSDs), and hospital-based clinics as well as the entire network of Primary Care Network (PCNs) under UC Davis Health. The Infection Prevention Coordinator has a strong foundation of clinical knowledge in infection prevention and hospital epidemiology and extensive knowledge of continuous process improvement practices, methodologies, project management and change management to develop, coordinate and execute projects and initiatives toward the achievement of organizational goals. These activities include, but are not limited to, infection prevention construction risk assessment and mitigation strategies, environmental and disease transmission risk assessment, survey readiness, local, state and federal reporting of communicable diseases, outbreak surveillance and healthcare associated infections through collaboration and coordination of various projects across the healthcare system. The Infection Prevention Coordinator combines expert clinical knowledge of health care delivery systems with current quality improvement tools and techniques to work closely with staff, systemwide leadership and other multidisciplinary teams. The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for independent review and application of current literature research and practice, study development and presentation / publication development, implementation, monitoring and reporting prevention strategies, policy and procedure development, routine and focused surveillance, training and education program development and collaboration with key stakeholders. The Infection Prevention Coordinator is an autonomous, technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field of recognized expertise in specific areas; problem solving frequently requiring analysis of unique issues / problems without precedence and / or structure. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes and resources, functioning with a high degree of autonomy while adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. The Infection Prevention Coordinator applies extensive knowledge of infection control and prevention practices and advanced professional concepts towards substantial hospital or system wide projects of large scope and high degrees of complexity. The Infection Prevention Coordinator works closely with the Director of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Prevention to collaborate or lead infection prevention activities that align IP Program goals with the strategic goals of the organization to ensure optimal patient and staff outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license or comparable credential in a related health care field [such as Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) / Medical Technologist (MT), Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), Master of Public Health (MPH)]
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC,) or obtain CIC within two years of employment.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR.
  • Bachelor's degree in health-related field.
  • 5 years clinical experience in acute or critical care or public health, 2 years of which are experience in infection prevention or public health.
  • Advanced ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
  • Advanced knowledge of current trends in nursing.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care.
  • Ability to adapt to change in a positive, professional and productive manner.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate productively in a team environment with all required levels of internal and external personnel.
  • Ability to demonstrate accountability and professionalism.
  • Advanced knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team and prioritize tasks using evidence-based practice performance improvement strategies to see a project through from inception to completion on schedule.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of data management, analysis, research, reporting and documentation in infection prevention with the ability to contribute to studies, investigations, reports, presentations, process improvement and the development of new infection prevention protocols or polices.
  • Advanced ability to speak publicly and relay complex information in a clear, concise manner and to make cogent presentations of research findings, reports and analysis related to infection control in front of both internal and external clinical and administrative stakeholders.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to participate in the development of informational material to provide education, training and resources related to quality measures and patient safety and to develop positive working relationships with patients, families, employees and outside personal.
  • Advanced and broad base of infection prevention clinical and operational issues including regulatory requirements, surveillance, investigational methodologies, data collection, epidemiology, microbiology, patient care and nursing issues.
  • Advanced ability to collaborate effectively with management and staff across the health system to provide counsel and guidance on highly complex issues of functionality, clinical quality, efficiency, and program development in all aspects of infection prevention.
  • Advanced knowledge of Joint Commission or Accreditation for Healthcare Organization Standards and other regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, taking into consideration protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and physiological characteristics specific to the patients.
