JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION:Responsible for support of clinical information systems in the hospital network, including the planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned Clinical Information Systems. Serves as a resource person between I/S and Patient Care Areas for the daily operational issues of the hospital’s clinical systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
1. Functions as clinical liaison between IS Department and Patient Care Areas.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Analyst I - Clinical experience in healthcare environment, bedside patient care preferred (3-5 years).
Analyst II – Clinical experience in healthcare environment, bedside patient care preferred (3-5 years). Greater than 2 years experience in clinical or healthcare informatics
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Current Louisiana license as a clinical professional (i.e. RN, Radiology Tech, or Respiratory Tech) preferred
*MT or MLT (Medical Lab Technician) required
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Experience with personal computers (2-3 years) (ex. e-mail or internet).
PC hardware troubleshooting experience is helpful.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Provides education to clinical staff regarding Information System’s clinical applications.
- Assists clinical staff in identifying causes and solutions to computer issues.
- Collaborates in the development and distribution of information to clinical staff.
- Provides cross-training for other members of the IS staff with regard to clinical information systems.
- Works with patient care departments in identifying enhancement and/or change requests for applications; works with I/S technical staff to determine the feasibility of requests and communicates back to departments' expected outcomes.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Performs master file and table maintenance for assigned applications.
- Works collaboratively with both internal and external technical experts to ensure programs and applications meet the needs of an interdisciplinary group of end users.
- Works with I/S technical staff in the development of education, literature, and training programs to optimize end users’ ability to interact effectively with programs and applications.
- Maintains daily functions of clinical applications.
- Participates in testing of systems or applications before implementation to ensure functionality.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining effective and efficient security of applications, based on “real world” use
- Maintains knowledge of current technology in the healthcare environment.
