Job Description
HealthPartners Institute is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join its basic science research team located at HealthPartners Neuroscience Center in St. Paul, MN.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in biochemical and molecular biology techniques such as immunohistochemistry, microscopy, western blots, tissue culture, gene expression analysis, RNA in situ hybridization, and animal studies. A Ph.D. in microbiology, immunology, or related field is preferred. This position will support the research of two teams : one studying exocrine gland dysfunction and the other therapeutic testing in animal models of neurologic disease
The Neuroscience Research Fellow will support the research of those affiliated with the division of Neurosciences, which may include the areas of dementia, neurosurgery, spine, stroke, Parkinson's, brain tumor, or others. The incumbent will be responsible for actively seeking out research opportunities, designing, implementing and evaluating studies and, in collaboration with the Research Director, effectively managing the timeline of all research projects to ensure progression and effective completion.
A component of this position is to secure sufficient grant opportunities to sustain the funding for this position. Performs other duties as assigned.
Work schedule : FTE : 1.0 (40 hrs. weekly), Day Shift
Required Qualifications :
Education : Applicants need an M.D. or Ph.D. degree.
Experience : Research experience in neuroscience, neurosurgery, neuroanatomy, pharmacology, biochemistry or related field is required. Applicants must have published peer-reviewed scientific research papers and experience in conducting medical research. Creativity and the ability to design and conduct independent research are essential.
