Would you like to help clients gain access to the treatment they need and make a difference in the lives of many?  Are you passionate about working within a trauma-informed model of care? Do you have knowledge of Drug-Medical or ASAM Criteria?  Do you have a solid understanding of diagnostic criteria for ICD-10/DSM-5 classification of mental disorder, Substance Use Disorders and experience working with individuals?  If so, HealthRIGHT 360 is currently looking to fill an Mental Health Intake Assessor/Therapist position within our Behavioral Health programs in San Francisco, CA.

In this “split” position you will gain experience working in a collaborative environment to connect client to the level of treatment they need as a Mental Health Intake Assessor, as well as managing a small caseload of individual clients or an opportunity to facilitate group treatment as a Therapist in one of our outpatient programs.

Many of our clients have backgrounds in the criminal justice system, are chronically homeless and/or otherwise economically disenfranchised. The ideal candidate has experience working within this population, including assessing, diagnosing and treating such clients with co-occurring disorders. The ideal candidate will also show flexibility in being able to meet the changing needs of our programs and can tolerate working in a fast-paced, variable working environment. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to successfully communicate within an interdisciplinary team environment and provide consultation to other clinicians and staff.  Someone with experience assessing risk for harm to self and others, an interest in gaining experience working within a county jail setting performing level of care assessments (average 1 day/week), and a sense of humor will be a welcomed addition to the team.

Key Responsibilities

    

  • Provide Mental Health/Level of care assessments and diagnoses for adults seeking residential services.
  • Consults regularly with Mental Health Clinical Director to ensure clients meet criteria for safe admission to appropriate level of residential care.  
  • Provides crisis intervention and referrals to high-level of care as necessary.
  • Go to Hospitals and or Jails, as needed, to perform mental health/level of care assessments with clients seeking residential treatment upon release or discharge.  
  • Opportunity to manage a small individual therapy caseload or facilitate group therapy treatment.
  • Provide thorough written documentation of all services provided in compliance with regulations, contracts, and behavioral health standards.
  • Persists in efforts to solve issues even when faced with internal barriers; takes personal responsibility for customer service outcomes.

 

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    

  • Ability to work with a diverse population while withholding judgment. Willingly open to learn and understand different perspectives.
  • Board Registered or Board Licensed as a LMFT/AMFT, LCSW/ASW or Psychologist/Registered Psychologist.
  • Minimum two years of experience in dual diagnosis substance abuse treatment in an inpatient or outpatient community mental health setting.
  • Experience conducting mental health assessments and providing appropriate diagnoses.
  • Experience with Mental Health Medi-Cal procedures.
  • Familiarity with Drug-Medical and ASAM Criteria is a Plus.
  • Demonstrates clinical paperwork, timely record keeping abilities and dual-entry.
  • Knowledge/ Familiarity of AVATAR is a Plus.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check for SF County Jail Clearance.
  • Has a valid driver’s license and able to pass an agency driving test to use agency vehicle for offsite visits.
