Job Overview

This is a union position.

The Day Reporting Center-STEPS (Services To Enhance Parolee Success) program offers assessment, substance use disorder treatment, case management, informational workshops, educational and vocational assistance, safe housing referrals and other essential services to parolees in San Francisco.

Provides assistance in development and implementation of Housing services, including Community Collaboration Responsibilities: Collaborates with community organizations, property management companies, and governmental agencies to provide relevant economic and housing resources or services to clients. Attends networking functions, meetings, and conferences as necessary Facilitates, plans and implements special housing workshops/activities/events. 

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Conducts assessment and intakes to determine housing needs and placement opportunities.
  • Maintains accurate records of group and individual meetings with clients.
  • Reviews documentation and materials for accuracy, completeness, and clarity Conducts transitional planning exit interviews with residents to support successful long term housing Generates reports as directed Case.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Conducts individual housing & economic assessments with adult clients to identify factors that impact the ability to secure long-term clean and sober housing.
  • Works with each client to develop individual housing plans. Encourages housing options that are sustainable and supportive based on special needs such as disabilities and mental illnesses.
  • Monitors residence utilization and maintains contact with each client to provide support and encourages follow through until appropriate housing & economic support is secured.
  • Participates in case conferences with HealthRIGHT 360 staff and outside agencies as necessary.

Housing & Economic Information Management Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, organizes, maintains and disseminates information on a wide variety of economic supports and housing options in the Bay Area (e.g. shared, supportive, subsidized, clean and sober, moderate income housing, etc.).
  • Provides referrals to community housing, Craigslist related and resources.
  • Prepares for and facilitates weekly housing meeting to share current opportunities and help clients fill out housing applications.

Workshop/Support Group Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates housing workshops (How to complete and gather documentation for a housing application Proper information disclosure) Life Skills (Meal planning, How to be a good neighbor) and Economic Literacy (Budgeting, saving and credit reports) Facilitates special workshops as necessary. 

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience Required:

  • Associate of Arts or Associate of Sciences degree from a granting institution accredited by the WASC or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a THPC or similar position; or possess a high school diploma, or equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a THPC or similar position.
  • Registration with Drug and Alcohol Certification recognized by DHCS (within 30days of employment).
  • At least 3 years experience working in a treatment/outpatient environment with high administrative demands.
  • First Aid Certified (within 30days of employment).
  • CPR Certified (within 30days of employment).
  • A valid California driver's license.

Background Clearance Required:

  • Must Pass background investigation and criminal records check to obtain clearance.
  • Must be able to satisfy requirements for security clearances.
  • Must not be on active parole or probation.
  • Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Knowledge Required:

  • Clear understanding of appropriate staff/client boundaries.
  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
  • Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and Internet applications.

  • Able to communicate well at all levels of the organization including working with organization leadership and high-level representatives of partner organizations.
  • Able to work within a frequently changing project scope while maintaining overall direction and structured priorities.
  • Ability to enter data into various electronic system while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data

Desired:

  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma informed treatment.
  • Knowledge of Clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes etc.).
  • Experience working with criminal justice population.
  • Drug and Alcohol Certification recognized by DHCS.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
