What are the responsibilities and job description for the Charge Entry - Remote position position at HealthStar Physicians?
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for accurate entry of physician charges
- Maintains and knowledgeable of all procedural and diagnostic codes which includes identifying appropriate codes and informing staff when services are coded incorrectly.
- Works with staff to resolve coding issues and associated problems.
- Responsible for balancing charges daily.
- Responsible for posting of payments collected by office or department.
- Participates in educational activities.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Enter data accurately.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
- Excellent Customer Service skills working effectively with patients and co-workers.
- Must be well organized and detail organized and be able to work independently without much supervision.
- *Willing to train the right individual.
- Must demonstrate current competencies applicable for the position such as typing or data entry.
- Knowledge of clinic/medical practice procedures related to all medical operations.
- Knowledge of phone system, copiers and fax machines.
- Knowledge of ICD & CPT .
- Knowledge of Athena.
- Must be capable of screening and directing calls in courteous and expeditious manner.
- Must be skilled in customer service and have a pleasant and courteous demeanor while dealing with all callers and must be able to effectively serve as a clinic liaison.
- Must be able to respond to stressful or emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
- Must have the ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Mostly sedentary with some standing, walking, reaching.
- Daily and repetitive data entry.
- Periodic stress from handling many calls and patient requests.
- Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds.

High School Diploma or equivalent.
