What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Business/Billing Department position at HealthStar Physicians?
Essential Functions:
- Manages the Business/Billing Office within the established budget including annual planning and development of monthly status reports.
- Assists in developing, implementing and administering annual budget and initiating corrective action to significant variances.
- Ensures organizational integrity through comprehensive understanding of federal, state and regulatory standards.
- Responsible for Billing personnel and personnel development.
- Monitors daily operating activity of department and makes necessary adjustments.
- Responsible for delegating authority yet maintains responsibility of all business office tasks or duties as required to maintain an orderly work flow on a daily basis.
- Serves as liaison between the practice and the providers.
- Implements financial policies while establishing and maintaining procedures to ensure that appropriate submission, billing and payment cycles are maintained.
- Maintains compliance of established policies and procedures regarding insurance and third party payers.
- Addresses customer escalation, researches issues, ensures follow through of corrections and formulates solutions to the problems.
- Coordinates with care plan oversight documentation guidelines.
- Participates in education activities regarding all insurance plans.
- Participates in educational classes regarding CPT and ICD-10 coding.
Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of business management and accounting/financial practices and medical business office procedures necessary to direct the Billing/Business Department.
- Knowledge of insurance reimbursement procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate direct reports.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Knowledge and ability to prepare financial reports.
- Ability to work effectively with patients communicating clearly and accurately.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
- Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
- Some bending and stooping required.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
Preferred certifications include CPC, CPMA.
ACO experience a plus.
License and Requirements:
Medical records certification as an ART desirable.
