What are the responsibilities and job description for the MRI Technologist - PRN position at HealthStar Physicians?
Essential Functions:
- Prepares and properly screens patients for MRI procedures.
- Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates and adjusts equipment;
- Prepares contrasts and materials; cleans and disinfects equipment in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
- Determines appropriate methodology and techniques to use; Selects appropriate imaging device.
- Performs all functions of the MRI exam independently.
- Uses all safety protection and adheres to all MRI protocols.
- Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
- Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- Must be willing to answer phones.
- Perform basic patient care and willing to train in other areas.
- Maintains MRI safety measures at all times.
Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of diagnostic/imaging procedures and protocols, PACS, RIS.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
- Knowledge diagnostic/imaging equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality as directed by HIPAA standards.
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting and records.
- Knowledge of clinic/medical practice procedures related to all medical operations.
- Must be skilled in customer service and have a pleasant and courteous demeanor while dealing with all patients and callers.
- Must be well organized and detail organized and be able to work independently without much supervision.
- Must have skills in critical thinking, communication, influence and decision making.
- Must have the ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team.
- Must have computer skills
Mental/Physical Requirements
- Combination of sedentary, walking, lifting, bending, and reaching activities.
- Requires normal vision range and the absence of color-blindness.
- Must be able to transfer patients to MRI equipment.
- Occasional stress from balancing multiple demands.
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
License and Registrations
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; (MR)
Must be MRI Registered
Current Basic Life Support Certification
