What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician III position at Healthwise Nutritional Resources Inc?
Responsibilities
- Lead complex repair and overhaul projects on critical food processing equipment.
- Develop and refine preventive maintenance programs specifically for food safety and equipment efficiency.
- Train and guide Technicians I and II in both equipment and building maintenance. Identify additional training needs outside of this roles expertise.
- Document maintenance activities using the company’s CMMS.
- Participate in root cause analysis and proposing corrective actions for recurring issues in machinery or facility systems.
- Ensure maintenance activities support continuous production with minimal downtime, focusing on food production line integrity.
- Manage building maintenance projects, including renovations or upgrades.
- Ability to read and follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications as required to complete tasks.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to complete tasks assigned.
- Fabricate new and or repair parts as required, using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
- Use forklifts or scissor lifts, following appropriate safety protocols
- Submit supply requests for key maintenance parts maintenance requirements
- Oversee and or lead the removal of defective parts by dismantling equipment; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Participate and or lead maintenance meetings, answering questions and requests.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; and interacting with contracted service technicians.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with state, federal and company procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Remove all tools and debris from any maintenance activity once it has been completed and inform the area supervisor and maintenance supervisor so appropriate hygiene and sanitation can be completed prior to the commencement of facility operations.
- Must work overtime as needed.
- This position may be required to be “on-call” in response to off-shift maintenance coverage needs.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience and or demonstrated extensive field work.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a maintenance role, with history of progression.
- Proficient in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial systems, including PLC programming.
- Certifications in food safety or related maintenance areas highly desirable
- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Must be able to work around food manufacturing machinery
Task assignments are predominantly indoors, however, some outdoor projects may occur. This position may travel between the main production facility as well at the neighboring Distribution Center in performing tasks. Both are indoor environments which may have wet floors, humid and/or dusty conditions. The ambient noise level does not currently require the use of ear plugs, although these are available. Facility regularly processes known food allergens.
