Position Summary
Working from a solutions-oriented approach, the Certified Nurse Midwife delivers primary care commensurate with training and monitors clinical performance to ensure medical services and operations comply with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies.
Responsibilities
· Provides direct clinical medical services in the area of board certified (or board eligible) medical specialty in accordance with the highest applicable standards of medical and professional practice and in full accordance with health center protocols and policies.
· Acts as a consultant on women's health cases referred by other staff providers of HCHC.
· From time to time, provides in-service training for staff in selected topics in Family Medicine and Woman's health as deemed necessary by the Medical Director.
· Completes medical documentation representing patient encounters within 3 business days of the patient encounter.
· Applies for and obtains staff privileges at community hospitals in the area as appropriate.
· Demonstrates commitment to and understanding of HCHC's recognition as a Patient Centered Medical Home and its associated service excellence standards by modeling excellence in all clinical, administrative and team process relationships, addressing service excellence deficits as may be identified and in performance of all duties and responsibilities as a Certified Nurse Midwife of the HCHC.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
· Must be able to prioritize, have cognitive reasoning, able to mathematically calculate for drug therapy.
· Must be aware of diversity among patient’s ethnicity and the impact of patient’s cultural background.
Education and Experience
· Current and Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
· DEA license to prescribe medicine.
· Board certification in chosen field of practice. Cannot be sanctioned under Medicaid or Medicare.
· Maintains federal, state and professional licenses/qualifications to maintain scope of practice in Virginia.
· Current CPR (BLS) certificate is required.
· Previous experience working in a Community Health Center environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Hearing must be adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as: auscultating blood pressure, ability to hear soft voices.
· Speaking must be adequate to perform the responsibilities of the job, such as: Clearly communicating instructions, providing input on assessments and evaluations of patients, taking medical history, relaying information to multiple personnel, patients and their families.
· This is a moderately active role, which requires the ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds, bending, squatting, sitting and standing as necessary.
· Must be able to lift, carry and handle equipment, supplies and other work site materials based on duty requirements.
