Healthy Hound Playground is an upscale dog daycare, grooming and boarding kennel located in Sterling, VA. We are looking for a qualified candidate to run and manage our front desk staff, be the first point of contact for customer concerns, and perform some HR duties.
Duties include:
- Regular reception duties (see below)
- Interviewing and training new receptionists
- Sourcing resumes for various positions and setting up interviews
- Staff write ups and performance improvement plans as necessary
- Creating and managing the reception schedule
- Working with staff to ensure reception always has adequate coverage
- Ensuring reception is running smoothly at all times
- Ensuring reception and areas under the purview of reception are always clean and tour ready
- Modifying and instituting new reception processes as needed
- Bringing any issues to the attention of facility management
- Working with management to ensure customers always have a positive experience at Healthy Hound
Candidate Must:
- Have prior supervisory experience
- Be able to manage staff effectively
- Be extremely organized and detail oriented
- Be diligent about follow up and follow through
- Be adept at learning POS software
- Have customer facing skills with an outgoing and friendly demeanor
- Have excellent email etiquette
- Be able to memorize, institute and follow processes
- Be able to complete tasks and maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a fast paced environment
- Be able to work in a fast paced environment and under pressure without becoming overly stressed
- Be able to work holidays
Reception Duties:
- Providing excellent customer service
- Welcome all customers promptly with an outgoing and friendly demeanor
- Doggy check in & check out
- Working with an intricate but modern POS kennel software
- Answering phones
- Responding to customer emails in a grammatically correct and professional manner
- Learning/memorizing an extensive amount of customer/dog policies and procedures
- Ensuring all daycare, boarding and grooming reservations are accurately entered and approved in POS system & ensuring all new dogs are signed up properly
- Monitoring and obtaining vaccination records from customers and vets
- Giving helpful tours of the facility
- Selling daycare, boarding and grooming packages
- Answering phones, including customer calls & educating them on our processes and services we offer
- Reception area cleaning
- Flexibility on hours and willingness to work as a team to provide coverage (30-40 hours per week, occasional overtime if needed)
- Must be available to work one weekend day
This position requires extensive communication and coordination between you and your staff. A working phone, voicemail, and general responsiveness is required. You must be prepared to be contacted by employees off hours to answer any questions they may have about issues that arise.
The position requires reliability as we are a retail establishment and you will be responsible for ensuring reception is always opened on time.
