Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and those with memory care needs. This role involves working closely with clients in their homes or community settings, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide medication administration as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversations and activities to promote mental well-being.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety of clients during movement.
- Observe and report any changes in clients’ physical or emotional conditions to the supervising nurse or care manager.
- Support clients with dementia care by employing appropriate techniques to manage behavior and enhance cognitive function.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Foster a respectful and trusting relationship with clients while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in home care, senior care, or memory care is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols is a plus.
- Ability to assist with patient observation and report any significant changes in health status.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to caregiving.
- Capability to lift and assist clients as necessary while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Understanding of dementia care strategies is beneficial.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is desirable but not mandatory.
