Position Summary:
The Transit Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Transit Drivers who transport members and clients to and from medical, pharmacy, and essential appointments. The role ensures that drivers adhere to safety protocols, provide excellent customer service, and operate vehicles efficiently and responsibly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding process for new hires.
- Provide training and ongoing support to new employees, as well as assist in any required training sessions.
- Supervise the daily activities of Transit Drivers to ensure compliance with company standards and safety protocols.
- Review daily routes and log details into the appropriate device(s) at the start and end of each shift.
- Assign and track trips for Transit Drivers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Communicate with Transit Drivers to provide support, updates, and changes related to daily trip schedules.
- Coordinate with Dispatch to confirm trip manifests and address any schedule changes or issues.
- Ensure that all Transit Drivers wear a mask/face covering at all times, both inside and outside the vehicle, especially when assisting members in and out of the vehicle.
- Review and maintain pre/post-trip vehicle inspection forms to ensure vehicle safety and readiness.
- Ensure Transit Drivers are operating vehicles (vans or SUVs) safely and efficiently according to assigned routes.
- Address and resolve any member or client grievances, and escalate issues as needed.
- Report cancellations, no-shows, or other issues to the appropriate broker or supervisor.
- Be present at accident or incident scenes when necessary to provide support and ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Assist Transit Drivers in managing roadside emergencies and provide support as needed.
- Oversee the infection control standards for vehicle cleanliness, including ensuring vehicles are disinfected, cleaned, and fueled for the following day’s use.
- Monitor and report on the status of vehicle systems, ensuring proper functioning.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; one to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License with at least an F endorsement or an equivalent, or a Commercial CDL.
- A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from the past 10 years.
- Ability to pass background checks.
- Ability to complete and assist with training for new employees as required.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to manage multiple employees and tasks.
- Proficient in using computer software and mobile phone apps.
- Ability to safely drive vehicles, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and safety standards.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions based on company policies and procedures.
- Capability to perform physical tasks under varying weather conditions and in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, particularly in situations where decisions impact organizational operations.
- Ability to maintain detailed and accurate vehicle documentation.
