Major/Essential Duties of Job:
- Assist with scheduling, coordinating, and implementing activities with HISD GEAR UP cohort of students, parents, and GEAR UP staff (including, but not limited to: college visits, financial aid, college information, tutoring, mentoring, financial literacy, counseling activities, case management, homeless and migrant service, inquiry-based learning, summer enrichment and remediation programming, career activities, work-based learning experiences, annual surveys, and test preparation).
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and facilitating parent outreach programs in the schools and community (eg., Parent-to-Parent Lunch Talks and Trainings).
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and conducting home visits.
- Communicate with schools to collect and maintain documentation of tutoring, grades, attendance, testing, discipline, and meetings.
- Organize and maintain files and data for documents, correspondence, forms, and records.
- Share maintained student and parent activity participation data with Evaluation staff.
- Assist with data collection for project reports.
- Attend GEAR UP conferences and trainings (both in and out of state travel).
- Communicate effectively and regularly with GEAR UP, school district, and campus staff on program activities.
- Provide feedback related to project activities in the assigned service area.
- Attend mandatory meetings/training with supervisors/program staff.
- Alert program Assistant Director and/or Co-Director of immediate needs/issues that may arise
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education/Certification:
- Successful undergraduate coursework in education, psychology, or a closely related field
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Child Protection Training (CPT)
Required Experience and Skills:
- Experience working with secondary schools
- Familiarity with GEAR UP grant work, TRIO or similar college access program
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Google Drive and Microsoft suites of products
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Familiarity with financial aid processes and procedures
- Bilingual skill (oral and written) in English and Spanish
- Brazos Valley community residency
- Fluency in various social media platforms (ie., Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
