Popular Mechanics — part of Hearst’s Enthusiast Group — seeks an energetic, creative, detail-driven test editor to expertly and thoroughly evaluate products relevant to our community then craft compelling reviews and product-centric content across all channels of the brand. The Test Editor will work within our Test team and have a focus on creating video content that engages our members on-site and followers on social media. The editor will also write engaging DIY projects and expert-driven product service journalism including coverage of tools, home repair, and outdoor and garden.
Must be able to generate data-driven, concise content that engages both a wide and core audience, and create content on a daily basis as well as simultaneously working on longer-term projects. The ideal candidate relishes the opportunity to create strategically driven content with a discrete goal such as traffic generation, affiliate revenue, audience development, and engagement. The role is based in the Enthusiast Group headquarters in Easton, Pennsylvania.

- Work with the Director of Testing to originate, plan, create, and publish reviews, expert takes, and related content in line with performance metrics
- Stay abreast of developments, research, and breaking trends in all relevant product areas.
- Produce content daily while simultaneously creating longer works for our site, magazine, social feeds and other channels.
- Coordinate all gear shipments, preparation, use, repair, and return.
- Maintain workshop and tool storage area.
Qualifications:
- 2 years experience researching, reporting, writing or editing test or service content
- Comfortable being on camera, with experience in public speaking, performance, or teaching/instruction.
- Budget- and metric-driven personality
- Must be able to manage feedback from multiple parties and deal with fast-changing priorities
- Ability to thrive under multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed
- A passion for tools, DIY projects, and home repair.

Salary : $62,310 - $69,000
