What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Content Producer position at Hearst Media Services?
WBBH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers, FL, is seeking a versatile full-time Digital Content Producer to develop and manage content for our website, mobile applications, and social media platforms. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional storyteller with strong editing skills, capable of creating compelling content under tight deadlines. A solid understanding of SEO is essential to enhance our digital presence and drive organic traffic. Given the significance of breaking news and weather in our region, our digital producers must effectively leverage these elements while managing their daily responsibilities. This position reports directly to the Digital Content Manager.
Responsibilities
- Write/edit and publish breaking news and weather, daily news, sports and feature stories to our station website and social media platforms.
- Write compelling headlines; especially for mobile and social media and carefully create mobile push notifications for breaking news/severe weather
- Work with Reporters. Producers and Assignment Editors to ensure content is posted accurately and in a timely manner
- Work with Producers, Assignment Editors and Managers to ensure cross promotion of content across all platforms
- Develop multimedia special projects and lead your own digital projects
- Manage live streams of newscasts and breaking news
- Contribute ideas to help grow our station's digital platforms
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in a professional television newsroom or web-publishing environment
- Compelling news and editorial judgment
- Excellent AP writing skills
- Working knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices
- Basic knowledge of video editing
- Experience with social media best practices
- Flexibility to work different shifts (including nights and weekends), holidays on short notice or to cover a 24-hour news cycle of breaking news.
- Work well in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Proficiency in Photoshop
- Must be highly organized due to the volume of incoming information
- Must be able to answer phone calls from the public and handle in a polite manner
- Related military experience will be considered
- In-person attendance is required
