Solution Architect

The Solution Architect will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating project discussions across various IT domains, including network, security, cloud, identity management, and applications. The focus of the role is to ensure that new systems are architected with a holistic enterprise-wide perspective, considering service levels, scalability, disaster recovery, operational impact, and cost-effectiveness. This position will also maintain a comprehensive architectural repository, ensuring all core systems and services are documented and updated as new projects are launched. As new systems and technologies are introduced into the Technology Services IT environment, it is vital to ensure their design aligns with the strategic, operational, and cost goals of the organization. The Solution Architect will bridge the gap between domain-specific experts, providing holistic oversight and ensuring that all touchpoints are considered before any new solution is deployed. This role will provide a vital layer of governance and operational foresight, improving decision-making, reducing risks, and enhancing system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Facilitation: Coordinate cross-functional collaboration among subject matter experts (SMEs) from various technical domains to review and plan new systems or enhancements.
• Architectural Review: Ensure new solutions are designed with an enterprise-wide architectural mindset, accounting for system interoperability, service levels, scalability, disaster recovery, and resilience, and security.
• Standardization and Governance: Establish and enforce architectural standards and best practices across the department to ensure that solutions align with strategic IT goals and governance frameworks.
• Documentation and Repository Maintenance: Develop, maintain, and update a central repository of architecture diagrams and documents for Tier 0, Tier 1, and Tier 2 systems, ensuring transparency and ease of access for technical and business teams.
• Performance and Cost Analysis: Collaborate with domain leads to ensure that new solutions are cost-effective, monitor their operational performance, and ensure service-level commitments are measurable and enforceable.
• Operational Handoff: Work with operational teams to ensure smooth transitions from project implementation to production, guaranteeing that monitoring, resource requirements, and ongoing management are clearly defined.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8 years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or a related IT role within a large organization.
• Strong knowledge of IT domains such as applications, network, security, cloud, and identity management., and applications.
• Experience facilitating cross-functional collaboration among SMEs and stakeholders.
• Excellent documentation skills with experience in maintaining architectural repositories.
• Familiarity with service-level agreements, disaster recovery planning, and operational scalability.
• Ability to balance technical depth with high-level strategic thinking.

The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $165,000-$180,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
