Job Description
Hearst Magazines is hiring a Director of Photography to join the central video team in our West Coast offices. This person will be working across all of our brands, plus special projects. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, be capable of balancing multiple projects simultaneously, and will be a problem-solver who is quick on their feet.
The ideal candidate will bring both creative and technical expertise to all projects they work on, across a range of verticals including beauty, fashion, fitness, pop culture, and more. Content varies from short-form digital content to longer-form docu-style content, so a solid understanding of storytelling is a must.
This position will report to the Director of Video.

Job Responsibilities :
- Lighting and shooting both on set and on location as needed
- Determine all gear needed for shoots, working with producers and production management to draft equipment lists and develop shooting guides
- Liaise with production teams and freelance crews on west coast equipment and studio booking requests
- Run audio on shoots as needed
- Work with producers to determine aesthetic for shoots, ensuring their creative vision is executed with video and sound
- Must be flexible with working hours

Qualifications :
The base salary for this role is between $93,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as : transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
