Job Description
Esquire seeks a Deputy Editor to assign, edit, and write news and human-interest stories for all our platforms. The Deputy Editor will also edit our daily politics blog with Charles P. Pierce. The right candidate comes loaded with ideas as well as a stable of writers.
Responsibilities
- Assign and edit pieces ranging from quick-turn stories newsy stories to longer reported pieces
- Edit and post daily political blogs from contributing political writer, Charlie P. Pierce
- Edit print column from contributing political writer, Charlie P. Pierce
- Write short articles and reported pieces
- Work closely with the design and photo team to execute larger packages
- Seek, manage, and grow relationships with both established writers and up-and-coming voices to contribute
Qualifications
The base salary for this role is between $83,000 - $100,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as : transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
