What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Associate position at Heart and Hand House, Inc.?
This is a full-time position, working a maximum of 35 hours per week. The Food Service Associate reports directly to the Garden Market Manager.
The Food Service Associate will have an understanding of general food service operations and procedures, including:
a. Food safety issues and all applicable health guidelines;
b. Procurement, preparation and storage of all food/beverages sold;
c. USDA, WVDA, DHHR, health department, and other guidelines.
The Food Service Associate shall possess a current personal food safety certification (i.e., food handler’s card or ServSafe) and comply with all workplace food safety requirements as set forth by the Department of Health.
The Food Service Associate is responsible for development of a grab-and-go food menu based on local, in-season, healthy foods available in the Garden Market and the preparation and packaging of such items. The Food Service Associate will calculate and maintain a record of food costs for the purposes of tracking expenses and determining appropriate sales pricing.
The Food Service Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work space, making sure that all dishes are washed, counter tops and work tables are cleaned and sanitized, and all trash removed at the end of their shift. The Food Service Associate will carry out other related duties that may arise, such as preparing food for meeting groups or business by prior arrangement, etc.
