Housekeeping

Position Summary:  

The housekeeper is responsible for custodial services necessary to maintain Heart City Health Center (HCHC) facilities in a safe, hygienic and presentable condition.

Essential Functions:

1. Checks housekeeping requests on-line twice a day; addresses requests as soon as practical
2. Cleans & disinfects patient (medical and dental) exam rooms on a daily basis
3. Cleans & disinfects all bathrooms on a daily basis
4. Cleans & vacuums adult, pediatric and dental lobbies and waiting areas (including windows) daily
5. Empties all trash containers daily; disposes of trash, waste and other disposable materials as instructed
6. Cleans fingerprints off doors and cleans/disinfects door handles and light switches at least weekly
7. Cleans & vacuums adult and pediatric common office space areas (registration, PFS, etc.) weekly
8. Cleans & vacuums dental office and downstairs non-patient areas weekly
9. Cleans & vacuums conference rooms and education center weekly
10. Cleans break room areas, refrigerators and microwaves once per week
11. Damp mops all floors and spot cleans carpets as needed; at least weekly
12. Cleans under exam tables at least weekly
13. Cleans and vacuums all offices monthly; when practical or as arranged with inhabitant
14. Cleans all air vents as needed; at least monthly
15. Periodically washes outside windows and screens; at least quarterly
16. Reports any needed repairs immediately to supervisor
17. Provides back-up coverage for other housekeeping staff as needed
18. Uses safety precautions in all housekeeping services
19. Must comply with applicable Federal and State regulations, such as OSHA, EPA and Hazardous Material communication standards
20. Performs other duties as assigned

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Possesses a personal and professional high regard for sanitation and cleanliness
2. Familiar with use of mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc.
3. Knowledge of applicable regulations, such as:   OSHA, Hazardous Materials, EPA and those associated with the State and local health departments
4. Knowledge of how to care for equipment and how to properly measure cleaning solutions 
5. Safety-minded and able to recognize potentially hazardous situations
6. Proven ability to maintain a professional facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning, and replacing equipment and furnishings as necessary
7. Good time management skills; self evaluates the use of time and understands how others may be affected
8. Cultural diversity awareness and skills; respects all people regardless of race, nationality or social standing
9. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and managers
10. Ability to work independently (self motivating) and as a team member
11. Good customer service skills; actively seeks ways to assist individuals within the scope of assigned duties

13. Computer literate

Education, Experience and Licensure:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
2. Previous cleaning experience preferred; medical office preferred 
3. Current Driver's License required (travel between clinics)

Physical Demands:

1. May stand for long period of time
2. Must be able to walk, sit, push, pull, stretch, bend, stoop and/or kneel periodically
3. Must be able to lift, carry and place up to 50 pounds on occasion
4. Must be able to see and hear in normal range with or without correction device(s)
5. Dexterity and hand to eye coordination as normally associated with using cleaning materials and operating cleaning equipment as well as office equipment and computers

Work Environment:

1. Often works in damp, dusty, and dirty areas 
2. Handles various cleaning solvents and chemicals; risk of skin irritation and/or contact burns
3. Exposed to fumes or airborne particles associated with toxins or caustic chemicals 
4. May clean up human waste and other body fluids; risk of associated bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease
