Position Title : Program Manager
Location : Heart House / McShan Elementary School
Grades : K-5
Reports to : Program Director
Position Summary
The Program Manager will lead the McShan Reading Homeroom program, providing essential reading intervention services to refugee newcomers in grades K-5. This role involves managing and supporting students and volunteer tutors, conducting reading level assessments, and creating, updating, and implementing targeted lesson plans. Additional responsibilities include managing materials and schedules, coordinating with school staff, and ensuring effective delivery of the tutoring program during school hours, with occasional Saturday school days and summer sessions. This role requires experience and expertise in the science of reading and language acquisition for elementary-age students, many of whom are non-native English speakers.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management
- Oversee daily operations of the Reading Homeroom program.
- Manage a team of volunteer tutors to ensure effective 1-on-1 tutoring.
- Coordinate schedules for in-school tutoring and possible Saturday school programs.
- Oversee reading components for the summer program, as needed.
