Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our free medical clinic. The HA/MA will work with our Clinical providers to provide primary care for children and adults. Within our medical area, we also offer free dental, vision, mental health, and physical and occupational health services. This is a unique opportunity to provide care for individuals who are uninsured and in the most need.
Required Duties, Responsibilities, Skills, and Abilities:
- Preparing patients for their visit
- Gathering information
- Preparing medical charts
- Performing point-of-care testing and routine procedures
- Assisting providers with more complex procedures
- Administer and register vaccines
- Assist with maintenance of vaccine supply and ordering vaccines
- Perform quality control, calibration/standardization, and other tasks as needed for laboratory equipment
- Attend and participate in meetings for both the Monen Healthcare Clinic and Heart Ministry Center
- Ability to work with patients of all ages
- Perform specific HA/MA visits; must be able to work independently
- Explain and teach discharge information to patients
- Gather patient intake data and enter into the medical record, including vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaint
- Transcribe information provided by patients into the medical record, including medical history, medications, and other provider names
- Transcribe exact written prescriber instructions for electronic order entry for medications, laboratory, and radiology procedures
- Provide patients and caregivers with preprinted health-related instructions from the provider
- Prepare patients for examination and/or clinic procedures, including positioning and application of drapes
- Set up, remove, and clean instruments for clinic procedures
- Phlebotomy
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
- Perform Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived and moderate complexity laboratory tests if CLIA requirements are met
- Perform EKGs
- Flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Current listing on the Nebraska Medication Aide registry required
- Phlebotomy certificate preferred
- Proficiency in English and Spanish
