Teller
Tellers positions, both full and part-time, will receive and pay out money, as well as accurately keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in a financial institution's various transactions. Tellers meet the needs of members by providing quality service. Bilingual required.
Essential Functions:
· Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, obtain proper identification for cash back and issue receipts of deposit
· Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete hold notices
· Process account withdrawals
· Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification and ensure validity
· Identify counterfeit currency
· Answer basic member inquiries regarding rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies
· Cross-sell credit union products and services
· Refer members to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line
· Count and roll loose coins
· Issue money orders and cashier’s checks, cash U.S. Savings Bonds and sell American Express Travelers Checks
· Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receipts
· Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded
· Ensure teller station is properly supplied
· Follow procedures for removing accounts for dormancy
· Balance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks
· Process cash advances, redeem U.S. Savings Bonds
· Maintain appropriate currency logs
· Follow all credit union policies and procedures
· Reliable, regular attendance is require for this position
· Participate in at least 2 community evens per year
· Will work minimum one Saturday per month
· Will provide vacation coverage and work extended hours when needed.
· Perform any other duties as assigned
Environment and Interaction
Work areas are inside, in a climate-controlled environment, with moderate background noise. Position may involve occasional travel to various branch locations. Position may involve exposure to potentially hazardous conditions (e.g. robbery).
Reports directly to the Branch Manager.

Physical activities required to perform essential functions
· Sitting/Mobility: Approximately 90% of time is spent working behind the Teller Line. 10% of time is spent moving around various work areas.
· Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, members and outside vendors in writing, in person and over the phone.
· Vision: Ability to effectively use a computer and interpret printed materials, emails, memos and other appropriate paperwork.
· Lifting/Carrying: Ability to transport files and supplies (up to 25 pounds)
· Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to access files and stock supplies.
· Reaching/Handling: Ability to input information into computer systems and retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment, and supplies.
Proficiencies
· Good written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone.
· Basic word and computer database skills.
· Ability to learn and navigate computer systems and websites necessary to complete job description and other duties as assigned.
· Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge and understanding of credit union rules, regulations, laws and all policies and procedures pertaining to them including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.
· Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Ability to study and apply new information.
Education and Experience
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Must be bondable
· Bilingual required
· Cash handling experience required
