Responsible for assisting in the operations of the HAMC Business Office and HAMC Admissions keeping in focus the department’s missions and goals. This job deals primarily within the functions of patient account/insurance, admissions/reception area and communications.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires standing or sitting, bending, stooping or stretching. Requires the ability to use office equipment such as switch board, 2-way radios, computer terminals, calculator, postage machine, credit card terminal and other office equipment. Must have the ability to lift approximately 35 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols. Requires vision and hearing corrected to normal range.

- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Business, Office Practice, or one year experience in hospital admitting or billing is preferred.
- 1-2 years experience in office setting preferred.

- Accountability for Safety
- Safeguarding the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI) in any form including electronic, written or oral.
- Responsible for the Admission/Discharge/Transfer process on the computer for the various types of patients/residents.
- Complete the necessary paperwork for each patient/resident.
- Preparing the labels, arm bracelet and chart.
- During the admission process, know the proper procedure and maintain a good working professional relationship with all HAMC staff to accommodate the patient /resident.
- Perform duties of a receptionist when operating communication equipment.
- Able to operate postage machine, calculator, and credit card terminal.
- Responsible for receiving and disbursement of hospital mail.
- Able to direct patients/visitor to their destination in a courteous and helpful way.
- Know proper procedure for emergency situations.
- Cashiering and doing cash worksheet.
- Writing receipts and making sure payments are applied to the correct patient/resident account or general ledger number.
- Responsible for coordinating the collection and disbursements of patient/resident valuables.
- Daily collections of patients that have copays, deductibles, and/or co-insurance due at the time of service.
- Input daily charges.
- Performing other duties as assigned
