TITLE: Bridges Tutor
DEPARTMENT: Bridges
REPORTS TO: Bridges Program Director
FLSA: Non-Exempt
HOURS: 8 hours a week (M-T 4:30 to 6:30) for 44 weeks/year. Hours are subject to change with academic calendar and/or program needs.
SALARY: $25 per hour for a maximum of 8 hours a week
START DATE: ASAP

Position Summary
Assist youth ages 10–16 with school assignments and special projects. Provide adequate support and information to students who need academic guidance to foster academic discipline and commitment to improve in homework production and in levels of general school subjects. This is a great job for someone just entering the workforce or returning to the workforce with limited experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate small groups and/or one-on-one reading, math, history or/and science comprehension sessions for students struggling in those subjects when necessary.
- Plan and teach an academic enrichment class once a week.
- Checking student homework to assure that students have adequately completely completed their assignments.
- Be cooperative with managing students and be prepared at all times to work diligently for the betterment of HOLA’s youth.
- Be punctual and communicate any concerns or questions to the Bridges Staff.
- Create and foster a positive academic/career-enriching environment for all youth (grades 6th-10th).
- Support HOLA in all areas of after-school programming.
- Develop and implement academic assignments for students with low academic performance in order to enhance their learning and interest in the subject.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of current educational issues/trends.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- Experience working with middle and high school youth.
- Must pass a background check.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Experienced in prioritizing and multitasking in a busy work environment.
- A strong desire to interface with youth.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Working towards a college degree and has passed college level English/Math with a B or higher.
- Acts ethically, responsibly and with utmost integrity.
- Maintains highest standards of conduct and comportment.
- Treats employees, donors, staff, mentors and youth with respect.
- Sets personal standards of behavior that serve as a model to others.
