TITLE: South Central Photography Teaching Artist
DEPARTMENT: Visual Arts
REPORTS TO: Site Manager and Program Director
SITES: Watts, Florence-Firestone and Leimert-Crenshaw
COMPENSATION: $32/ph
FLSA: Non-exempt
HOURS: 8 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours in the future
SCHEDULE: Subject to seasonal variations based on site requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY
HOLA’s South Central Photography Teaching Artist is responsible for providing photography instruction to HOLA youth at our South Central sites. The functions include curriculum planning, in-class instruction, prep and clean-up for each class, and mentoring youth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and implement the class syllabus
- Provide exceptional art mentorship and classroom management
- Act as a mentor and role model for youth and foster a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for HOLA youth
- Work with Visual Arts Director and Manager to stay within the budget and order supplies for classes and workshops
- Travel and carry equipment between 2-3 programming sites in South Central
- Take attendance at each class meeting
- Contribute to the cleanliness and organization of the shared studio space
- Track and maintain photography equipment
- Work collaboratively with HOLA Visual Arts faculty on special projects and exhibitions
- Archive and organize student photography
- Nurture and sustain positive relationships with programmatic partners
- Print and frame work for exhibitions
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend relevant staff meetings, special events, and trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to be a strong role model for youth during all working hours
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working with youth
- Technically savvy in the realm of photography and digital arts
- An ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Must pass CA DOJ Background check
- Excellent verbal communication skills characterized by an ability to find common ground and generate shared excitement around goals
