Heart of Maine United Way (HoMEUW) is seeking an energetic and mission-driven Director of Corporate & Community Engagement to lead and grow our corporate partnerships, employee giving campaigns, and community impact presence. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building strong relationships, brings a strategic yet creative mindset to fundraising, and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty (sometimes literally) in support of our community.
About the Role
The Director of Corporate & Community Engagement plays a key leadership role in driving our annual workplace campaign and expanding corporate support throughout our six-county region. This person will cultivate relationships with business leaders, serve as a visible representative of HoMEUW in the community, and collaborate across departments to inspire giving, volunteerism, and meaningful engagement. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a relationship builder, and someone who can balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution. Event planning, data-driven goal setting, and a heart for community work are all essential to success in this role.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the lead relationship manager for corporate partners and community stakeholders.
- Organize and implement workplace giving campaigns, including coordinating presentations, building toolkits, and providing ongoing support to campaign champions.
- Develop campaign projections, benchmarks, and financial goals to ensure we meet and exceed fundraising targets.
- Represent HoMEUW at community events, networking gatherings, and chamber functions to strengthen visibility and connections.
- Work closely with the VP of Philanthropy to identify new business opportunities and innovative approaches to partnership development.
- Help plan and execute fundraising events and recognition efforts, including corporate engagement events and volunteer appreciation.
- Collaborate with the Community Impact team on volunteer engagement and distribution drives (yes, we sometimes lift boxes and pack supplies—it’s all part of the impact!).
- Be an ambassador for our mission, helping share stories of impact and why United Way matters.
What We’re Looking For
- A relationship-focused professional with 5-7 years of experience in fundraising, corporate relations, nonprofit development, or a similar field.
- Fundraising and campaign experience preferred (capital campaign or annual campaign experience a bonus).
- Strong public speaking and communication skills—you’re comfortable leading a room and representing a cause you believe in.
- Creative thinker with solid organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Event planning and project management skills—you know how to make things happen with style and purpose.
- A love for volunteerism and service, and a willingness to show up wherever needed to support the mission.
- Proficiency in CRM databases, Excel/Google Sheets, and campaign reporting tools is helpful.
- Someone who will thrive in our collaborative, tight-knit team culture where we laugh, work hard, and celebrate each win—big or small.
