What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver/CNA position at Heart of the Carolinas Home Care?
Job Summary
We are looking for competent and compassionate caregivers/CNAs to join our growing team!
The ideal candidates will provide high quality to our clients. Our caregivers must be patient, have a friendly demeanor, and possess excellent communication skills, while having the ability to provide many levels of support to our clients.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a pleasant and supportive attitude
- Display professionalism, and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills at all times
- Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly patients or those recovering from surgeries, injuries or accidents by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating
- Adhere to health and safety standards
- Help clients with prescribed medication reminders
- Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
- Plan and prepare meals
- Maintain good time management
- Assist with physical therapy exercises
- Complete weekly grocery or pharmacy shopping or accompany them to successfully do so
- Perform light housekeeping duties
- Report any unusual incidents and act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
- Offer activities that are essential for daily living by assisting patients with their meals, including serving and other tasks, if necessary
Qualifications
- Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Possess strong ethics
- Eagerness to improve and continuously learn new skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with physical capability to perform job-related duties
- Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation every single day
- Have a clean SLED background
- Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
- Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends
- Prior experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment (minimum of 1 year)
- Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
- Supportive and compassionate
- High School Diploma or equivalent/Experience as a Caregiver, CNA or HHA, or completion of a CNA Program
- Take pride in providing high quality care
- Hoyer Lift Experience (specific to client)
