Key Responsibilities:
Specimen Handling & Processing
- Log and identify specimens accurately to ensure proper diagnosis.
- Process specimens with care and follow proper protocols to guarantee high-quality results.
- Perform routine histopathology procedures, including embedding, cutting, mounting, and H&E staining.
- Conduct special histochemical and cytological procedures, including staining and cover slipping.
- Prepare frozen sections for immediate diagnostic interpretation by pathologists.
- Assist with bone marrow aspirate and biopsy collection at the bedside.
- Ensure all procedures meet quality assurance standards.
- Maintain histology and cytology section supplies and perform regular safety checks.
- Handle send-out cases and maintain proper filing systems for data retrieval and comparisons.
- Experience in histology.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to perform cutting, embedding, and staining procedures to the highest standards.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining records and specimen integrity.

Summary
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Must possess an associate's degree or a minimum of 60 credit hours of college level course, of which, 24 are in the biological or chemical sciences to meet the CLIA standards for high complexity testing.
- Two years' experience in a histology laboratory is preferred.
- Meets the CLIA standards for high complexity testing. Current CPR/BLS certification.
