What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Liaison position at Heart of West MI United Way?
This hybrid position is scheduled to work 25 hours a week, M-F between the hours of 8am - 5:30pm with occasional weekend and evening work.
POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Family Liaison as part of the Great Start Family Coalition and Great Start Collaborative of Kent County is to disseminate the work of the Great Start Family Coalition, and to assist with building public will for investment in early childhood. The Family Liaison supports the Great Start Collaborative's work toward achieving Michigan's early childhood outcomes, recruits parents and families to become involved with the Family Coalition and its activities, represents families' needs and issues from various groups at the local and state levels, and assists families in finding needed early childhood services within their communities.
At Great Start Collaborative (GSC) of Kent County, we are a resource for families in our community. By bringing together philanthropic organizations, educators, leaders of public agencies and parents, we address the needs of children across West Michigan. As a true resource for families in our community, we bring together local philanthropic organizations, educators, leaders of public agencies, and parents who strive to address the needs of children throughout West Michigan. By connecting these perspectives, we identify plans for systemic change to ensure all children, from birth to age eight, can access high-quality early learning and development programs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or experience:
- Academic training in Early Childhood Education, Psychology or Social Work (AA or BA) OR equivalent experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in community organizing.
- Experience in working cooperatively with other parents or parent organizations.
- Prior experience or passion for initiatives impacting children and families or early childhood education.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual preferred.
- Must have a source of reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of early childhood community partners.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people. Possess and can demonstrate an understanding of various cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Strong active listening and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Pay Range Statement:
The typical offer range for this role is from minimum to midpoint, with the midpoint representing the average pay for this in a market scope. Please note that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade for which this position belongs to. The salary offer considers a variety of factors relevant to this position, which includes knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity and alignment withmarket data. The full starting salary range for this position at HWMUW is $21-$24/hr.
