The Assistant Manager for Group Homes works under the supervision of the Group Home Manager to provide supportive and compassionate care to residents while ensuring the smooth daily operation of the facility. This role combines administrative duties with direct resident support and staff supervision.
Key ResponsibilitiesResident Care & Support
- Assist in developing and implementing individual care plans for residents
- Ensure residents receive appropriate support for daily living activities
- Monitor resident health and well-being, coordinating with healthcare providers as needed
- Foster a positive, respectful environment that promotes independence and dignity
- Respond to and manage crises or emergencies according to established protocols
Staff Supervision
- Assist in scheduling, training, and supervising direct care staff
- Provide guidance and mentorship to support staff development
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations
- Ensure staff compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate resident records and documentation
- Assist with budget management and expense tracking
- Ensure facility compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Coordinate facility maintenance and supply inventory
- Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner
Program Development
- Assist in planning and implementing resident activities and programs
- Evaluate program effectiveness and suggest improvements
- Collaborate with community resources to enhance services
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Valid NJ non-probationary driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR/FA certification if completed (class will be provided by Heart to Heart if not completed)
- Completed background check
- Minimum 1 year of experience in residential care or similar setting
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of applicable regulations and standards for group home operation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Basic computer skills and documentation abilities
