The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or those requiring assistance in daily living activities. This position involves providing compassionate care, support, and guidance to clients in home care environments. The DSP will work closely with clients to promote independence, facilitate personal growth, and ensure their safety and well-being. The staff member needs to have a car to drive the client to activities like the YMCA, grocery shopping etc.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Monitor and document clients’ physical and emotional health, including vital signs when necessary.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.
- Assist clients with mobility needs, including lifting and transferring when required.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by adhering to health and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with family members, healthcare providers, and team members regarding client progress and concerns.
Skills
- Proficiency in CPR and first aid techniques is preferred.
- Experience in home health care, developmental disabilities or group home settings is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform assistance to clients with mobility challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with clients and their families.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and healthcare professionals.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality care tailored to individual needs.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00 per hour
