Under the direction of the fractional CFO, the Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the organization's financial records through efficient accounting operations. This includes reconciling accounts, assisting in budget preparation, supporting audit processes, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Accounting Manager plays a key role in supporting financial reporting and operations to further Heart to Heart International’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Record and track financial activity across departments/offices and maintain accurate accounting and statistical records.
- Manage the invoicing process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation, distribution, and recording of invoices.
- Record and reconcile accounts receivable (AR), ensuring accurate tracking of payments and outstanding balances.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of the general ledger with other organizational databases.
- Audit and process credit card bills, expense reports, and employee travel advances.
- Prepare and process payments, including checks, wire transfers, and ACH transactions.
- Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Ensure compliance with 1099 reporting and filing requirements.
- Reconcile bank accounts and prepare related documentation.
- Support annual audit processes by preparing documentation and collaborating with external auditors.
- Perform month-end and year-end closings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Assist in preparing financial reports for management review and decision-making.
- Ensure accurate processing of payroll in collaboration with external payroll providers and Human Resources.
- Maintain vendor records and ensure proper documentation for financial transactions.
- Track and maintain documentation for temporarily restricted fund expenses in collaboration with management.
- Provide accounting support to other departments as needed.
Qualifications
- 4-10 years of experience in accrual-based accounting, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge required.
- Proficiency in financial management systems and computer software applications, including Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
