Job Description: EKG Tech – Remote/CDT Team

Status: Full-Time/ Non-Exempt

We are seeking an experienced EKG Tech! In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) data from patients wearing Holter monitors, event monitors, or mobile telemetry devices. This is a remote position, reviewing heart rhythms in real-time or analyzing recorded data to detect arrhythmias, ischemic changes, and other cardiac abnormalities. The technician communicates urgent findings to healthcare providers and ensures accurate documentation of cardiac activity.
Essential Functions of the Role:
• Perform EKG tests on patients as requested by physicians
• Analyze test results and provide necessary reports to physicians
· Review and interpret real-time or recorded ECG data from remote cardiac monitors
· Identify and classify arrhythmias, ischemic changes, and abnormal heart rhythms.
· Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with HIPAA and medical regulations.
• Set up and maintain EKG equipment
• Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all EKG tests
• Prepare patients for EKG tests
• Educate patients and families about the EKG process
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Monitor patient vital signs during EKG tests
• Operate EKG machines, monitor, and interpret EKG readings
• Coordinate with other medical staff and provide necessary assistance
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the exam room
• Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols
· Notify physicians or healthcare teams of critical or life-threatening EKG findings.
· Provide technical support to patients regarding proper monitor use and troubleshooting.
· Document patient-reported symptoms and correlate them with EKG data.
· Prepare detailed EKG reports for cardiologists and healthcare teams.
· Log all interpretations and findings in electronic health records (EHR/EMR).
· Follow hospital or clinic protocols for data transmission and storage.
· Work with cardiac telemetry software, mobile ECG platforms, and cloud-based monitoring tools.
· Ensure remote EKG monitoring systems function properly and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one (1) year experience as an EKG Technician
• Current certification as an EKG Technician
• Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
• Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to provide patient education on EKG procedures
Work Environment
EKG technicians in practice, will work in a cardiac practice, conducting electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs) to monitor/record heart activity of stable patients undergoing regular heart monitoring and assist with placing Holter monitors, conducting stress tests, and ambulatory ECGs. on patients of the practice.
Physical Requirements
This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
