Laboratory Assistant – 2nd Shift (Contract)
Location: Southaven, MS
Schedule: Tuesday – Friday, 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Pay Rate: $17–$18/hr
Type: Initial contract with potential to extend based on performance
Overview:
We're seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to support sample processing and testing in a clinical/environmental laboratory setting. This is a great opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of lab experience (or relevant coursework), and a willingness to learn instrumentation and troubleshooting techniques.
What You'll Do:
- Assist Medical Lab Scientists and Technicians with daily sample preparation and testing
- Maintain lab equipment and prepare instrumentation for operation
- Perform routine lab tasks such as pipetting, measuring, and data entry
- Monitor lab inventory and supplies
- Support pre- and post-analysis work under supervision
- Follow all lab safety protocols and procedures
- Help resolve pending lists or missing sample issues
- Participate in process improvement efforts
- Adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For:
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree in Biological or Lab Sciences preferred
- 1–2 years of lab experience OR coursework in biological sciences
- Basic understanding of instrumentation (hands-on experience is a plus)
- Strong troubleshooting and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working with clinical/environmental samples (e.g., blood, urine)
- Proficient with MS Office and lab-related software
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Comfortable standing/sitting for long periods and performing repetitive tasks
- Able to work in a laboratory environment with moderate to high noise levels
